This Thursday, March 2nd,

This Thursday, March 2nd, join Clatsop Community College and Fort George Brewery for March’s Ales & Ideas Lecture at 7 p.m. featuring local author Marianne Monson who will be presenting “The Opera Sisters: A nearly forgotten tale of heroism from World War 2”.

In honor of Women's History Month, this Astoria based author will present the story behind her most recent novel, The Opera Sisters, which is based on British sisters Ida and Louise Cook who were instrumental in helping Jewish refugees escape from Nazi territory in the years before the outbreak of World War 2. Marianne will explain how she reconstructed these women's remarkable experiences and share research photos from her travel in Europe during the fall of 2020.

Fort George lectures are in-person events. Doors open at 6 p.m., with food, ales, and other beverages available, no purchase necessary. Minors are welcome at this FREE event.
