Clatsop County announced on March 13 that it is accepting applications to fill three upcoming vacancies on the Clatsop County Planning Commission. The terms for these positions will expire on June 30, 2026, with new appointments serving until June 30, 2030.
The Planning Commission serves as the county’s committee for citizen involvement in development and land use matters. Its responsibilities include making decisions about subdivisions and providing recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding amendments to the comprehensive plan and related ordinances.
According to the announcement, topics addressed by the commission include zoning, natural resources, transportation, natural hazards, economic development, housing, farm and forest lands, and coastal zones. The commission meets regularly in Astoria at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are currently held in a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual participation options available.
Interested individuals can obtain application forms from the Clatsop County website or at the County Manager’s office located at 800 Exchange St., Suite 410 in Astoria. The deadline to apply is Sunday, May 3, at 11:59 p.m.
The Board of Commissioners is tentatively scheduled to appoint new members in June. For more information about meetings or responsibilities of the Planning Commission, applicants may contact Gail Henrikson by email or phone.
