The following positions on the Astoria City Council have terms set to expire as of December 31, 2022. The election of candidates for these positions will be held at the November 8, 2022, General election.
Candidates may file for these positions beginning on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, or at any time before August 30, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
Mayor
To file for this office, a person must be a resident of Astoria for the six months preceding November 8, 2022, and must be a registered voter. A person must also submit a petition signed by 47 registered voters living in any of the City Wards. There is no filing fee in lieu of a petition.
Councilor, Ward 1
To file for this office, a person must be a resident of Astoria for the six months preceding November 8, 2022, must reside in Ward 1, and must be a registered voter. A person must also submit a petition signed by 12 registered voters living in Ward 1. There is no filing fee in lieu of a petition.
Councilor, Ward 3
To file for this office, a person must be a resident of Astoria for the six months preceding November 8, 2022, must reside in Ward 3, and must be a registered voter. A person must also submit a petition signed by 12 registered voters living in Ward 3. There is no filing fee in lieu of a petition.
Petition forms and other political candidate materials are available on the City Website or may be obtained at City Hall in the Finance Department, located at 1095 Duane Street, first floor. No signatures are to be obtained until the application has been filed with City and an applicant number has been assigned to the candidate.
