The Seaside Civic and Convention Center will unveil its new permanent public art collection during a community event featuring food, beverages, and live music on Friday, July 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Public artworks on display include painting, printmaking, photography, textile art, woodwork, metalwork, and glass art. Some of the artists from the project will be in attendance during the reveal party.
Drea Frost served as curator on this project, which began following completion of the SCCC’s extensive renovation and expansion in 2020, working alongside General Manager Russ Vandenberg and members of the Seaside Civic and Convention Center Commission.
“The fact that this will be the largest display of public art in all of Clatsop County is definitely something that Seaside should be very proud of,” said Frost. “We took great efforts to choose artwork that was created with our region in mind. We wanted to create a space that reflects the beauty of the area we live in.”
Originally constructed in 1971 just two blocks from the Pacific Ocean and steps away from downtown Broadway street and the Seaside Promenade, the Seaside Civic and Convention Center hosts 24,600 square feet of flexible meeting space.
