Former THS Social Studies and Spanish teacher Denise Harrington returns to THS in her new roll as NOAA Teacher at Sea Fellow (TASAA) to collaborate with Slade Sapora and his Marine Biology class. Denise’s roll as a TASAA Fellow (See link: https://teacheratseaalumni.org/) is to collaborate with NOAA scientists, the National Marine Sanctuary, and local educators to increase and diversify access to the amazing NOAA online resources.
In Slade’s Marine Biology class students had the opportunity to take one of the NOAA experiments on wind driven currents (See link to NOAA online experiment: https://www.noaa.gov/.../ocean-motion-wind-driven-currents) and try it our under the guidance of Mr. Sapora and Denise Harrington. Denise’s vision, with the expertise of Slade Sapora and the THS students, is to incorporate pictures and videos of students actually doing the experiments and include them on the NOAA website. Mrs. Herrington has also worked with the THS Juntos program taking 29 students to Pacific City to study sea foam. Go Cheesemakers and TASAA Fellow Denise Herrington!!
