Ales & Ideas- Shipwreck Archeology: The Beeswax, the Search Continues 

Join Clatsop Community College and Fort George Brewery for January’s Ales & Ideas Lecture on Thursday, Jan. 5th, 2023 at 7p.m. featuring CCC instructor Chris Dewey presenting on Shipwreck Archeology: The Beeswax, the Search Continues.

Chris Dewey will discuss the story of the Manila galleon trade, the recovery of timbers and other artifacts that are likely from a Spanish galleon on the Oregon Coast, and the continuing search for the remainder of the shipwreck.

Fort George lectures have returned to in-person events. Doors open at 6 p.m., with food, ales, and other beverages available; no purchase necessary. Minors are welcome at this FREE event.

Chris Dewey, a retired Naval Officer and the founder of the Maritime Archaeological Society, is the Shipwreck Archaeology instructor at Clatsop Community College. He holds a master’s degree in maritime archaeology from the University of West Florida and a master’s degree in business management from Troy University. He is listed on the Register of Professional Archaeologists and is a Secretary of the Interior and Oregon State qualified archaeologist.
