Clatsop County Commissioners Recognize Dr. Mushen

Dr. Bob Mushen was recognized during the March 8 Clatsop County Board of Commissioners meeting for his 13 years of service on the Human Services Advisory Council.

“Dr. Mushen has been a strong advocate for increasing communication between the Human Services Advisory Council and community-based organizations. He often invited nonprofit agencies to Human Services Advisory Council meetings and arranged site visits of those agencies. He made it a priority to establish strong relationships with commissioners and participated on the review committees so he would have a deep understanding of the issues impacting our communities,” said Mark Kujala, Clatsop County board of commissioners chair.

Viviana Matthews, Clatsop Community Action executive director, has worked with Dr. Mushen for more than 10 years. “He is one of the most caring human beings I have ever encountered. He has many great qualities such as outstanding ethics, he is compassionate and empathetic towards people in need, and he sees people for who they are, not their social economic background.  I admire how he cares about people, and I have the deepest admiration for his character. He has a very special place in my heart.”

Dr. Mushen is known for championing many community concerns as well as his passion for addressing the critical need for behavioral health services and of unhoused individuals.
